Our story
Our story
Established by Karishma Ali, a young football player hailing from one of the remote valleys of Chital, the Karishma Ali Foundation (KAF) is the culmination of Karishma's relentless efforts to break socio-cultural barriers and redefine the possibilities for women in her community and beyond
Karishma Ali, the founder, hails from Chitral, a region where traditional norms and restrictions have historically limited women's mobility and opportunities. Against all odds, Karishma embarked on a life-changing journey by choosing football as her profession. Her dedication and passion for the sport not only led her to excel but also inspired her to establish football teams across the region, creating a supportive environment for other young girls to follow in her footsteps.
Our mission
Our mission
To provide enabling opportunities and resources for women and girls to use sports and physical activities as a springboard to promote personal and professional growth, leadership skills, and community building ultimately being the torch bearers of change in the society.
What we do
Sports Training and Coaching
KAF conducts regular training sessions led by qualified coaches to ensure that young girls receive professional guidance in football. These training sessions are purposely designed to hone technical skills, strategic understanding, and physical fitness, providing participants with a solid foundation on the theoretic and practical aspects of the game. It also brings them together as a unit and promotes teamwork in sports and other spheres of life.
What we do
Gender-Sensitive Coaching
To understand and address the unique challenges and needs of girls, KAF undertakes coaches’ training so that they are sensitive to the specific needs and can plan training accordingly. This approach not only enhanced athletic performance but also promoted inclusion, gender equality and besides reducing socio-cultural stigmas. Such training has helped the female athletes thrive and succeed.
What we do
Education & Wellness Workshops
KAF places a strong emphasis on holistic development through interactive activities workshops and seminars focused on key areas to create awareness and education on topics such as gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, nutrition, leadership, community engagement, environment and climate change. These sessions equip participants with essential knowledge and skills that go beyond the football field.
What we do
Exposure Visits
Given the isolated nature of the human settlement in the areas where KAF operates, exposure of young girls remains a formidable challenge. To broaden horizons and provide further opportunities for growth, KAF arranges trips to other cities where participants take part in sports events and social gatherings. These exposure visits are instrumental in enhancing the girls' understanding of diverse playing styles, cultures, and the broader sports ecosystem.
What we do
Tournaments
Tournaments play a vital role for sportswomen to show their skills and earn recognition, to capitalise this potential, KAF organises tournaments at local and regional level, offering young girls the opportunity to experience competitive play. These tournaments are crucial for providing exposure to high-level competition, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship, and helping participants apply their training in real-game scenarios.
